Author Biographies

Inés Matres

Inés Matres, born 1983 in Madrid and currently living in Berlin, studied Audiovisual Communication and has an M.A. degree in European Media Studies. After working as an online editor for several cultural institutions in Berlin she took over in 2011 the management of the exhibition portal for Europe (www.euromuse.net) at the Institute for Museum Research (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin - Preussischer Kulturbesitz). Today Inés Matres continues to work as a junior researcher at the Institute of Museum Research, participating actively in the international working group on Digital Exhibitions and performing tasks related to communication and management of international projects such as Europeana Inside.

Aubrey Pomerance

Aubrey Pomerance, M.A., born 1959 in Calgary, Alberta, studied philosophy from 1981 to 1986 at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia and the Free University of Berlin. From 1986 to 1995 he studied Jewish Studies and History at the Free University of Berlin. From 1995 to 1996 he was a Research Assistant at the Institute for Jewish Studies at the Free University of Berlin, and from 1996 to 2001 he was a Researcher at the Salomon Ludwig Steinheim Institute for German-Jewish History in Duisburg. Since 2001 he has been Director of Archives of the Jewish Museum Berlin, the Branch of the Archives of the Leo Baeck Institute New York, and the Branch of the Wiener Library, both at the Jewish Museum Berlin. He is the author of publications on German-Jewish memorial culture, Jewish lives and fates during the period of National Socialism, Jewish photographers in Berlin, and archival pedagogy.
